NikpV Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 hijacker is implying that the switch on the brake pedal may be faulty - first thing to check on a tdi if the engine warning light comes on - costs about Quote

NikpV Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 hijacker is implying i have a different warning light for my lights on the dashboard and that goes out when peddle is depressed so that is working fine. its the engine warning light that i am having trouble with. regards yes this is nothing to do with the lights out warning its an engine warning problem which is connectedto the brake switch on tdi Quote
drewkaren Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 hi, i am a first timer, however i have the samemodel ,51 reg . my warning light has just come on yesterday ford seem to think it may be due to tesco petrol. Do you use tesco or morrisons? Quote

bigfoot2 Posted March 4, 2007 Author Report Posted March 4, 2007 hi allgot some new plugs from halfords, not the set i wanted but the gave me a set of champion copper plugs an equivilent. put in plugs tick over sweet, but driving is the same and engine warning light staying on or flashing, its as if there is dirt in one of the jets, but could be electrical so im not sure where to go from here. i disconnected battery for 10 min, and now the engine warning light is not on, tried driving again, still sluggish especially in the lower revs, the warning light flashes on now and then. any more tips on correcting this problem. thank youregards Quote
whitty Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 could be the dreaded fuel / lambda problems but i very much doubt spark plug would solve a lack of power do you know anyone with vag-com if the light is or has been on the fault code will be stored should give you a deffinate answer on your problem rather than replacing all sorts and not solving problem Quote

bigfoot2 Posted March 8, 2007 Author Report Posted March 8, 2007 ok fellas got my obd2 reader today came up withP0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detectedi erased this code several times and went for a drive light flashing on/off not all the time mind, then it stayed on perminent.came up with the same errorP0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detectednew plugs in so its not that. i tried getting the jet out but it was stuck solid, then i heard you had to release the pressure 1st? so i left that and put jet cleaner in petrol, im gonna check the lead. any more info on what else to check if i find no probs with the lead etc.thank you. the hego sensor i think is under the car between the exhaust and cat, if thats the case then you would be better off buying one and fitting it yourself. just undo it with a spanner and unplug the wire. count the number of wires on it b4 you buy and compare. if im wrong one of our members will put you straight. this will be cheaper than paying fords. Smilge Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Hi, I remember a similar problem with flashing glow plug light with Mk 3 Mondeo TDCI's. This was caused by fuel contamination due to the needle bearings within the injection pump breaking up. Im not suggesting this is your problem but it might be worth seeing if your flashing engine warning light can be caused by fuel contamination. Quote
